The Palace of Versailles in France


Versailles is a historic city in France. It is a city in the Yvelines department in the Ile-de-France region. It is located approximately 17.1 km from the city of Paris. It is a service-based economy in France and one of the major tourist attractions. World-renowned for its Chateau de Versailles and Versace gardens, nominated by UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Versailles Palace is also a Unique pattern sign. The palace is now a historical monument and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Every year a huge number of tourists come to see it.

It is a new city founded by King Louis XIV. It was the de facto capital of the Kingdom of France for more than a century, from 1682 to 1789, before Versailles became the cover of the French Revolution. After having lost its status as the royal city, it became the préfecture (regional capital) of the Seine-et-Oise department in 1790, then of Yvelines in 1968. It is also a Roman Catholic diocese.
