Rabindranath Tagore was an Indian Bengali poet. He was one of the leading poets, novels, music writers, playwrights, painters, short story writers, actors, vocalists, and philosophers. He is considered to be one of the greatest Bengali literary writers. Rabindranath was awarded the title of Gurudev, Kaviguru, and the World Poet. He was born in Jorasanko Thakurbari, Kolkata on May 9. His father’s name is Maharshi Debendranath Tagore. Who was a Brahmin priest. The mother was Sarada Sundari Devi. The characteristics of Rabindranath’s poetry include sentiments, lyrical imagery, spirituality, heritage, love of nature, love for humanity, patriotism, love for the world, romantic aesthetics, sentiment, language, rhythm, and sensuality. The classical and folk culture of India and Western science and art philosophy had a profound influence on his work.
Rabindranath’s 52 poems, 38 plays, 13 novels, and 36 essays, and other prose volumes were published shortly after his lifetime or death. His total of 95 short stories and 1915 songs were included in the compilation of lyrics and lyrics, respectively. All published and unpublished works by Rabindranath have been published in 32 volumes called Rabindra Composition. All the literature of Rabindranath was published in nineteen volumes of letters and four separate books.
Besides, he drew about two thousand pictures. Rabindranath’s works have been translated into various languages of the world. In 1913, he received the Nobel Prize in Literature for his English translation of the Gitanjali poem. In 1915 the British Government awarded him the title of knight. But he resigned his title in protest of the Jallianwalabagh massacre in 1919. In 1921 he established a company called Sriniketan for rural development.
Rabindranath’s song is one of his best songs. His Amar Sonar Bangla songs and People’s Captain Joy Hey Ganduti composed the national anthem of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and the Republic of India respectively.
As a child, Rabindranath studied for some time at Oriental Seminary, Normal School, Bengal Academy, and St Xavier’s Collegiate School in Kolkata. But because of his uninterest in schooling, his education was kept at home by a home teacher. At the age of eight, he began writing poetry. In 1874, his “Abhilash” poem was published in Swabodhini magazine. This was his first published Composition. In 1879 University College began to study law in London. But he could not finish his studies in the attraction of literature.
Rabindranath spent most of his life in literary practice. Due to which he could not get any degree. From 1891, Rabindranath started overseeing the zamindaris of Nadia (Kushtia district of present-day Bangladesh), Pabna and Rajshahi districts under the orders of his father. Rabindranath spent a long time at Kuthibari in Shilidah, Kushtia.
The zamindar Rabindranath used to ride in a luxurious family market called “The Padma” at Shilaidaha to collect tribute and pray for blessings. Rabindranath Tagore went out on a total of twelve trips. Between 1878 and 1932, he traveled to more than thirty countries on five continents.
On December 9, 1883 (24 Agrayan, 1290 BC), the marriage of Rabindranath was completed with Bhavatrini, the daughter of Benimadhav Raychaudhuri, a subordinate of Thakurbari. Bhavatrini was named by Mrinalini Devi in her life (1873–1902). The children of Rabindranath and Mrinalini were five: Madhurilata (1886–1918), Rathindranath (1888–1961), Renuka (1891–1903), Mira (1894–1969), and Shamindra Nath (1896–1907). Renuka and Shamindranath died at a very young age.

Rabindranath Tagore was one of the most respected poets in the world. He was the first Nobel Laureate among the Asians. He received the Nobel Prize in 1913 for his Gitanjali poetry. In 1915, he was awarded the Knight Elementary.
He died at Kolkata’s ancestral residence in 1941 after a long illness.
